An important feature of any thermal store is that hot water can be supplied directly from the mains at conventional flow rates without the need for pressure relief safety valves or expansion vessels.
This is achieved by passing the mains water through a plate heat exchanger. The outlet temperature of the domestic hot water is maintained by a printed circuit board, which controls the speed of the pump which circulates the primary water from the store through the plate heat exchanger, this allows the hot tap water to be delivered at full mains pressure, and is one of the primary benefits of installing a thermal store instead of a conventional hot water cylinder.
